Kids Say the Darndest Things!

I have a friend who has the cutest twin girls that I've ever seen. They're 6 and have such different personalities. One is a girly girl and loves princesses. The other one is all into sports and loves pirates. I can't even express how super super cute they both are.

Anyhoo - my friend has shared some of the things they've said recently - and I absolutely loved the innocence that went with the questions they posed and their comments to go with them. Enjoy!

Kid: "Mom, what's a COCK nation?"
Mom: "A what!?"
Kid: (Sigh) "You know, Asian, Black, Native American, Cocknation!"

(OMG - "Caucasian" - hahahahaha!!!!!)

Kid: "Mom, what does 'pino' mean?" (pronounced "pee-no")
Mom: "Where did you hear that?"
Kid: "From my friend at school. She said she's feelin pino, what does that feel like?"

(Her little friend is FILIPINO - awwww, she thought "pino" was a feeling or emotion!)

And last year, when they were 5, they told the cutest knock-knock joke:

Knock, Knock.
Who's there?
"Tank".
"Tank" who?
You're welcome!

Heeheeheeheeheehee.

Kids. Gotta love them :)

Yes, ANOTHER fire @ Camp Pendleton

Taken in our cul-de-sac, to the left of our house. Our first site of the fire...
Here's one of the plane's we heard fly over our house several times -
those guys were working hard dropping flame retardants!
It's a little small, but if you look to the left you can see another plane...

We really thought we were going to get evacuated when we saw this...

Who could sleep with this going on???

Yesterday was a crazy crazy day. All afternoon we watched the fire from our bedroom window and on the news - literally at the same time. It was crazy - We could see and hear the airplanes dumping water from our window. Rob went up on the hill to take photos (I know, he's crazy, huh!?)

Thankfully the winds were calm and we didn't have to evacuate. The neighborhood 2 blocks over from us was evacuated. Our intersection has been blocked off from any incoming traffic. We watched the news all night and were on alert if we received a reverse-911 call. What was so annyoying is that we kept getting pre-recorded soliciation calls - argh!!! To make it worse - one was from "OFD", which we thought was "Oceanside Fire Department" - it was a pre-recorded call for votes - what the heck!!??

I am so thankful for the many many phone calls and texts that we received from friends and family. We are so very blessed to have these people in our lives. Many have called to check in on my parents because they weren't sure if I was home or not - and many have called to offer for us to stay at their homes. I am so thankful for the love that we are surrounded with.

Thank you Dulia, Tita Edna, Eddie, Jeffery, Nini, Magi, Matt & Kim (with Matt's bum leg and all he offerred to help us if we needed to load up our cars!), Dana, Heather, Stephanie, Jim, and whoever else I may have forgotten - thank you thank you thank you!!!

Fire @ Camp Pendleton 10/8/2008

Wow - it's that time of the year again. Fire season. About one year ago today we had some terrible brush fires. Thankfully we didn't have to evacuate. Last year we could see the fire at Camp Pendleton from our bedroom window and helicopters with water flew right over our house. It was crazy.

So another fire started at Camp Pendleton this afternoon. It's getting close - but we're not concerned - at least not yet. Here are some pics that Rob has taken of the fire... yikes!!!
