Who's Bored?

Ahhhh.... it's been a loooong time since I've had a Sunday all to myself. In the last several months there were always multiple errands to run, guests to entertain, people to see, and of course the countless wedding events (prospect meetings, client meetings, bridal showers, weddings, and of course - everything that went into being the Maid of Honor at my best friend's wedding - that's right, I said "Maid" of Honor - "Matron" of Honor sounds so yuck!) Anyhoo - with absolutely no scheduled events on my calendar (whoo hoo!) and my hubby having Naval Reserve Duty today - I took advantage of the time and hung out with me, myself and I.

It was awesome. After morning mass I made myself breakfast, then went out to get pampered with a massage and mani/pedi. I then made a quick trip to Costco (couldn't put it off any longer - we were down to two rolls of toilet paper) where I planned dinner for the week and feasted on many delicious samples.

On my way home I decided to call my nieces and godson in Florida. Everyone was fine, however each kid had to make it a point to tell me, individually, that they only had two days of school last week "because of da hurricane" (they don't speak Tagalog, yet they sometimes have a Filipino accent - huh?) One of them then told me that they were bored and I realized...wow... I can't remember the last time I was bored... when we grow up, with everything going on in our lives, do we ever get bored anymore???

One of my best friends is 10 years older than me (she'll tell you 9, but really it's 10). Many many years ago, when I was home from college for summer break, I remember complaining that I was bored. My friend gasped and quickly replied, "What!? Oh my gosh, what I would give to be bored! I don't even remember what it feels like to be bored! With 4 kids - I'm never bored - seriously, I wish I could be bored, at least for just one day."

Back then, I had no idea what she was talking about. But now, I absolutely know what she means...
